Back to Jersey

I'm flying back to New Jersey in the morning to visit my mother over the weekend. I'm not taking my laptop, taking some books instead. This is an interior shot of an old Pan Am airline with wicker seats and waist reducer leather seatbelts.

All the best on your travels...wave to me when you're over Ohio, and be glad you aren't riding on the plane in the picture...wicker seats+air travel=TERROR!!!

Bye! We'll miss you! And we're mad at you!

(because you're not taking your laptop.)

Happy trails. Or Happy Jet trails.

I bet the airline chose the wicker seats because they didn't weigh too much. I might swap a regular airline seat for a wicker chair if the plane had those big windows!

Wicker sounds fun if they serve toddies. Wish you had your laptop!

That picture really looks more like a train than a plane.

Where can I get some of those waist reducer leather seatbelts?

Great shoulder room in the old plane and no middle seat for us claustrophobics. The stews had to be nurses and they served peanuts. You could even smoke on that thing! Times have changed. Try flying one of the Embraer's everyone is using for short hops and see if you can pry your average butt out of those tiny seats.

When are you coming back? You've been gone long enough.

I do miss Sally's blog entries...they're always a welcome bright spot in my day.

I'm thinking the waist straps were also to keep you in when the windows blew out and the plane rolled.

I can see you all responded viscerally to this image.

Well that would certainly explain the waist reducing thing.
